Maven’s Diva Series with Le Dress!
di·va - [dee-vuh, -vah] noun, distinguished female singer; prima donna. Goddess, fine lady.
Every Thursday, in downtown Chicago, divas gather at Madame Tartine for MAVEN’s Diva Series. This weeks’ series featured the Ladies of le dress, Eva and Robyn Anderson! The sister-in-laws opened the “dresses-only” store this summer, as a result of their personal experiences in trying to locate dresses for a variety of events. The store has a price range from $40 to $500 with sizes ranging for 0 to 12.
The Diva Series runs weekly from 7-11 with complimentary champagne cocktails from 7-8pm. And though Madame Tartine is packed full of beautiful women, the smart guys know that the Diva Series isn’t just for the ladies. (that’s a hint, guys!)
Come celebrate the Diva Series with Sarah Vargo and Renae Placinski of MAVEN!

Chicago 2016: One Year to Copenhagen!
Thursday, October 2nd, marked that one year remains until the IOC’s Host City decision for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Copenhagen. And you know what that means for us Chicagoans…
That’s right… Parrrr-tay!
The party at Rockit Bar and Grill had hors d’ouerves, cocktails and Olympic spirit in spades! And I had the opportunity to speak with Olympic and Paralympic peeps, Anjali Forber-Pratt, Matt Grevers, and Bill Scherr.
Keep rooting for the home team, Chicago! Go 2016!

Come sail away in Chicago
Before the season ended, I was blessed with the experience of sailing on a beautiful sailboat in Chicago. James, the captain, and the crew of Big Meanie took me out for a glorious Sunday sail! We competed in the last race of the season and my eyes were open to the majesty of being propelled along the water by nothing more than teamwork and Mother Nature.
Alas, my camera person didn’t show up, and I couldn’t film the race since my new team needed me on the ropes. There was so much more that happened (two boats collided, a man fell overboard, crazy kooky wind shifts) however my hands were needed more “on deck” than on the camera during the race.
Still… it was another amazing Chicago experience that I will treasure. I found the following quote equally apropos to this post and to my life. Perhaps it will resonate with you as well.
“The sail, the play of its pulse so like our own lives: so thin and yet so full of life, so noiseless when it labors hardest, so noisy and impatient when least effective.” ~Henry David Thoreau
So true.

A “shout out” to myself…
I was on the news in Chicago on Wednesday… and, well… it was pretty cool.
And THEN there have been total strangers that have recognized me from the news as I am out and about (both with and without my camera)… and that also, did not suck.
In fact, it kinda rocked. Positive reinforcement is totally underrated. Works on me like a charm.
So, both NBC5 and ABC7 interviewed me that day. ABC7 didn’t repost the story on their website (rude) but I believe I have access to it on a friend’s Tivo… or I could just make them crazy asking for a copy.
The good news is that here is the link to the NBC5 story!
Watch out, Chicago.
I’m Ron Burgundy?
