“My Kung Fu is Stronger Than Yours”: A Social Media Bootcamp
JenChicago, NBC Chicago Street Team
So, I’m at SOBcon for the second year in a row this past summer and I’m meeting all kinds of cool and great people, and I meet David D. “Griff” Griffin. And he’s cool and great too! He’s talking about creating a social media bootcamp for everybody looking to leverage this style of marketing. We all agreed it should happen.
Well, David didn’t waste any time and began planning right away! He was then incredibly wise in asking yours truly to present. Yes! Video Revolution will be every bit as exciting as is sounds!
And back to David… He and his team use social media to make all the necessary connections, announcements and arrangements… Next thing you know, “Voila”, we have a conference this weekend entitled “My Kung Fu is Stronger Than Yours“.
Hmm… it’s a cool name, but what does it mean? Stick around to watch me call David and have him explain. Long story short, if you like the idea of learning about social media as if it were water coming out of a fire hydrant, then you should definitely consider coming this weekend. Plus there’s just no substitute for the face-to-face connections you’ll make. So do it already… click here.

So, you know I’m gonna leave you with some ways to find me through social media here, right?

Fun things that come in the mail!
Before heading out to enjoy this gorgeous Chicago day, I went to check the mail. Fun things come in the mail. I have a note card reminder to send people nice cards in the mail. We all like it. Today, I got some fun marketing tools and reading material. I love the nerdy side of me.
Also, check out the scavenger hunt that takes place online and in sweet home Chicago! And if you want to see me walk the runway and support a worthy cause, get tickets to next Friday’s event!
DUN… DUN… DUN…

Reviewing Chapter 7: Heaven on Earth
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Imagine living your life without fear of expressing your dreams. You know what you want, what you don’t want, and when you want it. You are free to change your life the way you really want to. You are not afraid to ask for what you need, to say yes or no to anything or anyone.
From the big things like marrying someone for the wrong reasons, to the little things like going to a party you don’t want to go to because you fear disapproval if you say “no”.
You can be loving all the time. This is your choice. You may not have a reason to love, but you can love, because to love makes you so happy. Love in action only produces happiness. Love will give you inner peace. It will change your perception of everything.
Happiness is a choice, and so is suffering.
It’s a choice. Period. That’s a burn.

From The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness, because we make the assumption that everything is about “me”… All people live in their own dream, in their own mind; they are in a completely different world that the one we live in.
If someone is not treating you with love and respect, it is a gift if they walk away from you. If that person does not walk away from you, you will surely endure many years of suffering with him or her. Walking away may hurt for a while, but your heart will eventually heal. Then you can choose what you really want. You will find you don’t need to trust others as much as you need to trust yourself to make the right choices.
Write and post somewhere you will see it: Be free. Don’t take anything personally.

Upcoming event: Chicago Inauguration Ball at McCormick Place
A sin is anything that you do that goes against yourself. Everything you feel or believe or say that goes against yourself is a sin. Self rejection is the biggest sin that you can commit.
Use white magic beginning with yourself. Tell yourself how wonderful you are. Tell yourself how much you love yourself. Use the word to break all those teeny, tiny agreements that make you suffer.

Passages referenced from “The Four Agreements”
We pretend to be what we are not because we are afraid of being rejected. The fear of being rejected becomes the fear of not being good enough. Eventually be become someone that we are not.
And
To be alive is the biggest fear that humans have. Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive- the risk of being alive and express what we really are. Just being ourselves is the biggest fear of humans.
